P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors Legal Apprenticeship Programme

As an apprentice at P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors, you will get the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience working on a variety of cases and be part of our highly skilled teams whilst also studying for a Law degree at Ulster University.

This degree pathway will enable you to work with us by carrying out paid employment in our firm while gaining professional qualifications without the added cost of university fees.

As an apprentice most of your week will be spent working in our departments, working to support other legal professionals in our firm. You will typically work 30 hours per week under the supervision of a mentor.

You will also attend university on a day release basis studying towards your Law Degree at Ulster University, gaining the practical skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the legal profession.

Obtaining Professional Experience

At P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors, we have a team of expert solicitors who have gained a reputation as leaders in their specialised practice areas.

We have been involved in major cases which have shaped the law in both Northern Ireland and Ireland. We have successfully represented clients in cases before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, The Special Criminal Court in Dublin and at the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.

As an apprentice you will obtain unique experience working within our expert teams and departments including:

• Medical Negligence

• Human Rights

• Family Law

• UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry Team

Legal apprentices will benefit from working on a variety of tasks to support our team of professionals such as:

• Preparing legal documents.

• Conducting legal research.

• Maintaining case correspondence.

• Interviewing clients and witnesses.

• Providing legal information to clients.

Financial Package

As a legal apprentice, you will earn a competitive salary while you work with us.

Your university tuition fees will be fully funded for the degree programme. This means that you will not have to worry about funding these yourself and can also enjoy the perks of receiving a monthly salary.

Entry Requirements

The degree apprenticeship requires A’ level grades ABB and English GCSE at Grade C. All offers of employment should be conditional offers based on our requirements.

Support

You will be supported by our team of expert solicitors and legal professionals throughout the entirety of the apprenticeship programme.

You will work alongside your assigned Office Mentor and an Academic Studies Advisor from Ulster University who will be available to support you throughout the apprenticeship programme and beyond.
