Conal McGarrity

Conal became the youngest legal director in Ireland when he was appointed director in 2017.  He qualified as a Solicitor in 2014 having graduated from Queen’s University where he received the Lord Chief Justice’s Prize for academic achievement.

He practices in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.  He is an expert in the areas of human rights, dispute resolution, medical negligence, fraud & financial crime.

He is regularly instructed in the most serious and high-profile cases within Northern Ireland the Republic of Ireland.  He currently represents clients in cases pending before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, the Supreme Court in London and the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.

Conal represented his county, Tyrone at minor level where he won an Ulster Championship medal.  He has also won McRory Cup & Hogan Cup medals with his school, St Patrick’s Academy, Dungannon.

Kieran Quinn

Kieran trained and worked at a leading London firm for a number of years. He joined P.A. Duffy & Co in 2001 and became a Partner shortly afterwards. He is qualified to practice in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England and Wales.

Kieran’s areas of legal expertise include residential and commercial property sales/purchases, housing and apartment development, all aspects of conveyancing together with business acquisitions, , inheritance tax, trusts, estate planning and administration.

Kieran advises a large number of high value developers, many leading businesses, investors and private clients in industries such as construction, manufacturing and retail.

He is also a Notary Public having been appointed by the High Court to hold this role in 2018.

Kieran loves to cycle in his spare time.  He also is a committed youth coach and manager with his local GAA club.


Sean McGrath

Sean McGrath qualified in 1979 from Queens University in Belfast.  He started work with PA Duffy & Co in Belfast in 1981.

Over the past 30 years he has been employed with PA Duffy & Co Solicitors, taking over the Dungannon office after the death of the late Patrick Duffy in 1996.

He has extensive experience in the areas of litigation and employment law having worked first with the National Workers Union serving hundreds of their members involved in that industry and subsequently with the G & B Union for a number of years during which the PA Duffy & Co offices lead by him and Austen Shannon, who has recently retired from the Belfast Office, dealt with all employment matters for G & B Union members within Northern Ireland.

He has a details knowledge of conveyancing, and Estates and Wills having dealt with numerous matters of the past thirty years.

He is now working as a Consultant within the firm.


Emma McCaul

Emma graduated with an LLB (Hons) in Law from University of Ulster, Belfast in 2012. She worked in local general practice since then gathering expertise in various areas of law and graduated from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in 2016. Emma recently joined the team at PA Duffy & Company in October 2019.

Emma has established strong relationships with many local residential and commercial developers in Northern Ireland.

Her clients value her extensive knowledge and efficiency in this field and her ability to front load these matters and have all transactions running smoothly. She also deals with private residential and commercial property sales/purchases. Emma takes personal pride in the strong and long-lasting relationships formed with clients and ability to meet client expectations and therefore building a strong and credible client portfolio. Clients appreciate her professionalism, efficiency and attentiveness and genuine consistency in these qualities.

Emma’s areas of legal expertise also include Will drafting and Administration of Estates including Estate/Tax planning. Emma has extensive experience in Enduring Powers of Attorney and Controllership Applications and incidental matters dealing with the Office of Care and Protection for Patients.

Emma’s expertise allows her to provide advice on matters such as property disputes including private residential and commercial Leases for both Tenants and Landlords; Telephone Mast, Wind Turbine and Network Leases; Land Law issues such as adverse possession and boundary disputes and planning matters. She can also advise on disputed Wills and contested Probate actions.

Emma is currently a Trustee/member of the Board of Trustees for the Thomas Doran Parkanaur Trust and takes great pride in being a part of such an institution.


Judith Gibson

Judith Gibson graduated with an LLB Hons Law from Queen’s University Belfast, followed by a Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Ulster. She graduated from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in 2013 and took up a legal role in the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry and then the Renewable Heat Incentive Inquiry. Judith is our expert family law practitioner and has held roles in the Departmental Solicitor’s Office and the Official Solicitor’s Office dealing with vulnerable patients who do not have capacity to give legal instructions.

Judith’s primary interest is with family law issues and she has a wealth of experience in the family courts. She has dealt with numerous cases involving private and public law family matters, in the Domestic Proceedings Court, Family Care Centre and High Court. She is skilled at negotiating with Social Services to attain the best results for her clients without delay. She regularly takes and defends proceedings such as non molestation orders, contact and occupation orders and public law Orders.

She is also trained specifically to deal with clients suffering from domestic violence and abuse, and can offer expert help and support in this area. She deals regularly with clients who are considered high risk of domestic violence by professionals under MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Committee).

Judith specialises in divorce, separation, matrimonial agreements, and ancillary relief proceedings. Judith will deal with these issues promptly and efficiently to gain the best outcome for the client in what are difficult and emotive circumstances. Judith can advise you on the best way forward post separation.

Judith also works closely with the Office of Care and Protection and the Official Solicitor’s Office in the Royal Courts of Justice, Belfast dealing in all matters relating to mental capacity for Patients and Minors under the Mental Health legislation. She gives advice on enduring power of attorney, controllership applications and secures legal support for those who are not capable of giving legal instructions by reason of a mental health disorder with the Mental Health NI Order 1986. If you have concerns regarding a relative’s ability to deal with their affairs, then Judith can advise you how best to protect their interests.

Judith is head of the family law department at PA Duffy and Company. Through her work she has established a thriving practice in all areas of family law. Judith has written various expert articles which consider the current law in Northern Ireland and proposes reforms that are aimed at challenging and continually improving this area of law. She is a staunch advocate of promoting the rights of the child in family proceedings and this is reflected in her work.

Recently Judith became an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Order Panel. This is a professional body which qualifies a select group of family solicitors to represent parties in all public law and private law proceedings under the Children Order (NI) 1995. Judith has undertaken specialist training and examination to deal with all family law matter such as Residence Orders, Contact, Care Orders and Adoption cases.

In her spare time Judith enjoys playing the piano and violin, having achieved the Associate in Piano performance (ATCL) with Trinity College London. She also enjoys sport and is a keen supporter of rugby. She was appointed as the Club Welfare Officer for Dungannon Rugby Club and enjoys this role in safeguarding the children and young people in the club.

Sinead Willox

Sinead qualified as Solicitor in May 2008, cross-qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate in November 2008 and graduated with an LLM from The University of Law in Guilford in 2013 for her studies in Employment, Criminal, Civil and Commercial Law.

She is qualified to practice in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.  Sinead completed her training in England at a leading firm and following three years of qualification was promoted to Partner.

Sinead is a specialist criminal practitioner and is the head of the criminal department at P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors.  She also has expertise in employment law.

She is a highly experienced Solicitor-Advocate and has a wealth of experience representing clients from the Police Station through to the Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and Court of Appeal for a range of criminal offences. She has acted as Junior Counsel with considerable success in cases of murder, manslaughter, the full range of sexual offences, fraud, major cases of drug importation and supply, human trafficking, kidnap and blackmail.

In addition to her legal expertise, Sinead is the founder of Sinead Willox Coaching and Co-founder of The Willox-Fullen Collection having further qualified in 2018 as an NLP Life Coach and MBSR Practitioner. She presents keynote lectures and workshops for, National Womens’ Conferences, Non-Profit Fundraiser Events, Fortune 500 companies – leadership conferences and Wellness Retreats. Her areas of expertise are Work Life Balance, Growth Mindset, Stress Management, Burnout and Mindfulness.

Sinead is extremely passionate about using her creativity and regularly performs as a singer and recording artist.  She also starred and toured as Constance Markievicz in ‘Blood Upon the Rose’, which performed at The Hammersmith Apollo, The Armadillo Theatre, Glasgow, the Olympia Theatre in Dublin and the Grand Opera House Belfast.

R v Gonzales (Central Criminal Court) where the issue of diminished responsibility arose from the killing of six random victims in different locations over a two-day period. Whole life terms were imposed on conviction of the defendant who was described by doctors and staff at Broadmoor Hospital as their most difficult and dangerous patient.

R v Fenner – Guildford Crown Court – Olympic hopeful acquitted of causing death by dangerous driving after two-week trial.

R v H and Others – Portsmouth Crown Court – A five-week trial concerning an international paedophile ring and serious sexual offences against children.

R v W and Others – Winchester Crown Court – Organised Crime Group targeted by police in relation to conspiracies to supply class A drugs on a multi-kilo scale.

Legal Executive

Enda McGarrity

Enda joined PA Duffy & Company as a paralegal in 2018 having recently graduated from Queens University Belfast with honours. He practices in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and deals predominately with high value personal injury cases.

Enda has developed a case load consisting of accident at work, industrial disease and public liability claims. During his time at PA Duffy and Company Enda has settled numerous high value personal injury claims and currently has a number of ongoing claims in both the High Court in Belfast and in Dublin.

Enda is always keen to ensure that his client’s get the compensation they deserve, including damages for their personal injury as well as recovering loss of earnings and any medical expenses they have incurred. The experience Enda has garnered by working with expert solicitors and barristers has helped him to develop a thriving personal injury practice at PA Duffy and Company.

Enda has a particular interest in human rights law. He recently completed a report on the impact that UK government legislation has had on rising levels of rough sleeping and homelessness among EEA nationals. He also took part in a 5-week human rights internship in Cape Town, South Africa where he provided legal assistance to refugees and members of the LGBTQI community who were being subjected to discrimination.

He was involved in taking a Judicial Review against the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa for withdrawing a blind refugees protected status and deciding to deport him. Enda challenged the decision on the grounds of illegality and irrationality and prior to the High Court Hearing the Department withdrew their decision and reinstated his client’s Refugee Status.

Enda is a keen Gaelic footballer, he has represented County Tyrone at Minor level and currently captains his club senior team. Enda has also received an Ulster Colleges All star award and was a member of the Elite Athlete Programme at Queens University Belfast.

Filip Hartel

Filip is a legal executive who looks after the Polish department at PA Duffy and Co Solicitors. He has a particular expertise in litigation and medical negligence and operates both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

He has experience in dealing with a wide range of cases including accidents at work, road traffic accidents and medical claims.

Filip is originally from Poland and started working with PA Duffy and Company in 2016.

Gabriele Mikstaite

Gabriele graduated from University of Salford, Manchester with honours and is currently working towards her Master’s in Law at Queen’s University Belfast. She intends to complete to qualify as a solicitor within the next couple of years while working within P.A.Duffy & Co.

She has particular interest in the area of reforming rape and sexual assault law and is currently in the process of writing a comparative study of rape law in Northern Ireland.

Gabriele is originally from Lithuania and has lived in Dungannon for 16 years, she is bilingual and speaks fluent English and Lithuanian.

Recently Gabriele is dealing primarily with Medical Negligence Claims under the guidance of Conal McGarrity, Director. It an area of law that she is extremely interested in and she aims to get the best results for her clients.

In her spare time, Gabriele enjoys travelling and reading.

Seanin Somerville

Seanin joined the firm in 2006. She raised through the ranks and working closely with our Mr Conal McGarrity, she now specialises in the area of non-fault road traffic litigation claims.

Seanin understands how traumatic a road accident can be for victims and their loved ones. She aims to provide the support and advice required to make road traffic accident as straight-forward as possible. Seanin has developed an excellent knowledge of the law in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in relation to road traffic litigation. She has settled various high value cases and has vast experience in settling claims across all Court tiers.

Working closely with local accident management firms, Seanin acts for car drivers, passengers, pedestrians, motorbike users and cyclists. She successfully negotiates settlement for vehicle damage, plant machinery damage, property damage and personal injury compensation.

Seanin is keen to ensure that clients are adequately compensated for less evident losses such as vehicle depreciation (in the event of repair) or any loss of income or medical expenses incurred as a result of the accident. She also prioritizes prompt payment of hire car fees, vehicle storage fees and vehicle recovery fees by liaising directly with the third-party insurance company.

Seanin is conscientious, efficient and describes herself as a perfectionist. Her aim is to ensure that clients are treated to the highest standard of fairness and justice, as is their entitlement. Previous clients have been keen to point out her relentless work ethic and her hassle free, professional approach.

Seanin is a talented middle-distance runner and regularly competes in organised running events. She is a huge supporter of the Parkrun movement can be found running or volunteering most Saturday mornings at her local event. She is a very family centric person, an avid reader and a dedicated true-crime podcast fan.

Noleen Gowdy

Noleen joined P.A.Duffy & Co in 2015 and now works closely with Mr Conal McGarrity.

She has experience in dealing with matters ranging from civil litigation to judicial review. She now specialises in the area of personal injury litigation with a particular focus on accidents at work.

With extensive knowledge of personal injury claims, Noleen deals with all types of accident at work compensation claims. These include employers liability cases concerning employees who have suffered an injury whilst at work due to the failure of the employer to provide a safe working environment. Other cases concern occupiers liability dealing with the duty of care owned by those who own or lease property towards visitors to premises. The owner / occupier has a duty to ensure that the premises are safe for the purposes for which the visitor was on the premises.

Antonia started working in PA Duffy in 2009. Most of Antonia’s work involves conveyancing with a particular emphasis on large scale developments and she is always effective and efficient. Her pastimes include photography, she also enjoys keeping fit and spending time with family.

Caitriona started working at PA Duffy & Co in September 2019 and has quickly become a valued member of the team. She assists our solicitors with matrimonial matters. She loves nothing more than spending time with her family and attending many GAA matches across the country and volunteering at her local GAA club.

She is also a committee member in her local handball club and has been involved in organising and helping with fundraisers. Caitriona is also a director in her local Credit Union.

Christine has recently started working with PA Duffy & Co in October 2019. She is great edition to the team and she assists our solicitors in many areas including conveyancing.

Christine, who is originally from Australia has working in the legal industry for many years in both Australia and Northern Ireland.

She loves nothing more than spending time with her family. She also enjoys the great outdoors and traveling.

Jenny Mitchell

Jenny has worked in PA Duffy and Company since 2011. She works primarily in our commercial and conveyancing Departments. Jenny has assisted our solicitor’s in various high profile property purchases and sales. She recently helped to finalise the purchase of a large scale development for a local company. Jenny is vastly experienced in this area and is an important member of the PA Duffy team. Jenny is a very family orientated person and her interests include walking, shopping and meeting up with friends.

Mairead McHugh

Mairead started working at PA Duffy in September 2018 and has quickly become a valued member of the team. She assists our solicitors in many areas including civil litigation and legal aid matters. She states that she loves nothing more than spending time with her family especially with her nieces and granny. Mairead also enjoys getting away from everyday life with little trips away whether that is here in Ireland or further afield. For Mairead, it’s all about the little things.

Shauneen began working at PA Duffy in November 2016 and has developed experience in civil litigation and family law work. Rachael Gallagher

Rachael started working in P.A.Duffy in January 2020, but she has worked as a Legal Secretary for nearly two years and has gained experience in all different areas of law. Rachael assists Judith Gibson L.L.B at P.A.Duffy & Co on matrimonial matters.

Rachael loves socialising with her friends, spending time with family and travelling.
