P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors Lace Up for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke

This year, P.A. Duffy & Co Solicitors is proud to announce that five teams from across our offices will take to the streets of Belfast in the Phoenix Energy Belfast City Marathon Relay, united behind a single, deeply personal cause: aiming to raise at least £5,000 for Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke (NICHS).

A Cause Close to Our Hearts

Our participation in this year's marathon relay carries a special significance. In February 2024, our chairman, Feargal Logan, suffered a serious stroke. With no warning, Feargal became unwell, experiencing issues with his balance and vision. Notably, he did not display the classic FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) symptoms, yet he sustained a stroke that served as a stark reminder that none of us are invincible.

Thankfully, Feargal has made a strong recovery, one supported in no small part by the remarkable team at NICHS. During a vulnerable period, their dedication, care, and vital aftercare demonstrated the extraordinary impact this charitable organisation has on the lives of those it serves. Feargal's experience showed us first-hand just how essential their work is, delivered with professionalism, compassion, and tireless commitment.

More Than a Race

For our teams, the Belfast City Marathon Relay is about far more than crossing a finish line. It is an opportunity to step away from the office, come together as colleagues and friends, share a few laughs, and push ourselves for a cause that truly matters. Each year, thousands come together at the Belfast City Marathon to run and relay with one shared mission: to help make a difference. Whether participants are taking on the full 26.2 miles, a relay leg, or supporting from the sidelines, every step fuels a cause that counts.

It is also an occasion to raise awareness of the BE FAST message — a vital update to stroke recognition that highlights the warning signs of Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, and Time. In our case, it gives our runners a spring in their step.

About Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke

Established in 1946, NICHS works with people of all ages across Northern Ireland, delivering vital care and prevention services, supporting ground-breaking research, and campaigning for change. Their vision is a healthy Northern Ireland free from chest, heart, and stroke illnesses — and the need for their work has never been greater. Today, as many as 470,000 people in Northern Ireland are living with a chest, heart, or stroke condition. With almost 90% of their income coming exclusively from public donations, the charity relies on the generosity of the community to continue helping thousands of local people and their families rebuild their lives.

How You Can Help

If you are able to donate, even a small contribution will make a real difference. Every pound goes directly to NICHS, helping them continue their vital work supporting individuals and families across Northern Ireland.
